and Today Discrimination is a word that is like a two edged sword. It’s one of those difficult words like censorship. Censorship is considered taboo for adults, and yet it is our duty to censor what our children are exposed to as they grow up. We use discrimination to distinguish carefully when we make choices. Even in advertising when it comes to a fancy product or a luxury car you hear such statements as “for those with discriminating taste.” But, what about the other edge of the sword? Societies the world over have been plagued for millennia with the devastation of discrimination, not from the benign evaluation of what is best, but from that which is the worst, resentment…even hatred, because someone is different. Different because they are of another race, religion, tribe, club, gang, political party, social class…the list can go on and on. And if we want to make discrimination even more understood, we can call it by its other name, prejudice. So what are the fruits of discrimination and prejudice? They are the worst of human behaviors: slavery, prison, concentration camps, ethnic cleansing, mass murder. And while the evils of discrimination are not unique to any one nation, the Jews have been prejudiced against longer than any other people group. Let’s see. The Jews were enslaved in Egypt. Millions were annihilated by the Nazis. They have been discriminated against right here in America. The crime rate in the Jewish culture is one of the lowest. Their country is one of the smallest in the world. And yet, as David Horowitz said, they are the most universally hated and persecuted ethnic group in history. You ask yourself why? I guess it’s because they’re… Jews. And that’s OUTRAGEOUS! Illegal Immigration On the topic of immigration…if there is anything that is a cornerstone principle to the success of the United States of America it is the fact that we, as a country, are made up of a melting pot of citizens. The inscription on the Statue of Liberty reads, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” and for decades America has received them. America is unique in many ways, but most of all we are unique because while we are from many countries and ethnic backgrounds we are bonded together, not by our borders or our bloodlines, not by our skin color or our country of origin, but by our belief that all men should be free. Free to pursue their own future, free to worship as they choose, free to express what they feel and think without being persecuted, beaten, imprisoned, or even killed. But, if America is going to be a place of refuge, she needs to remain strong. As you heard on today’s program, there are millions who are entering our country illegally. If we make our border more secure and deport those we catch will that stop illegal immigration? Not at all. But that’s not the point. The point is that there are those who are here in violation of immigration laws put into place by those we elect to represent us in Congress. If illegal aliens are ignored is that not a signal to ignore other laws as well? In November of 2000, when we were consumed with the presidential election fiasco, I recall the mantra of the media and political pendants saying “we are governed by the rule of law.” If that’s the case, are those laws enforced at random, or do they really have meaning in our society. To allow an illegal alien to remain when we know they are illegal, and support them with taxpayer dollars, is like allowing a burglar to break into your home and set up residence…and you are forced to let him stay and foot the bill as well…and that’s OUTRAGEOUS!
