TAKE ACTION! - Law of the Sea Treaty

Provided by the American Policy Center @ www.americanpolicy.org
Any day now our nation could find itself part of an international treaty that abolishes freedom on seven-tenths of the world’s surface because of the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea. In February the Senate Foreign Relations committee voted unanimously to bring the treaty to the full senate for consideration; Once two-thirds of senators approve, the United States will no longer hold the right to board and search all suspect vessels - a prohibition that will greatly endanger our nation’s security and impede our progress with the war against terrorism. We will no longer hold jurisdiction to freely explore the ocean’s beds and waters for oil and precious magnesium without first obtaining permission and receiving quota limitations from the International Sea Bed Authority, a U.N. body. The United States will be required to pay a tax on all ocean discoveries to this same U.N. body, and the United States will also have to share its mining and exploration technology with the likes of China and North Korea – nations that in turn can use this technology against our own military defenses!

1. Call the White House - Recall that this is the same treaty that President Reagan tossed aside as contrary to U.S. interests Switchboard: (202) 456-1414 or (202) 456-1111

2. Call your representatives and tell them to put pressure on the Senate to abolish all chances for U.S. participation in this treaty House switchboard: (202) 225-3121

3. Call both of your senators and tell them to vote ‘no’ on ratification of the Law of the Seas Treaty. The Senate switchboard: (202) 224-3121

TAKE ACTION! - Sudan's Persecution

Our Take Action item is provided by International Christian Concern…Congressman Frank Wolf is urging people to contact the White House regarding Sudan’s Darfur region.
He says, “I am growing more and more concerned about reports regarding increased levels of violence in Darfur. The conditions are horrific and beyond imagination. Women, children continue to die. The whole population is suffering. The situation worsens every day.I urge you to contact the White House and the United Nations and urge them to call on the Government of Sudan to allow immediate humanitarian access to this region. If we do nothing, thousands more will die.

TAKE ACTION! - Federal Marriage Amendment

Provided by the Family Research Council. (http://www.frc.org/) A vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment is scheduled in the U.S. Senate this week of July 12th. Even if you've already done so, please take a minute and contact your Senators and Representatives in Congress. Tell them to act quickly so marriage will be protected in your state! If the future of the family is important to you, please commit to calling or faxing your elected officials every day this week. Go to www.senate.gov & www.house.gov to get their contact information.

TAKE ACTION! - The Marriage Protection Act - HR 3313

Provided by E-Involved! (www.einvolved.org) This bill invokes the power of Congress to limit the jurisdiction of the federal courts from considering any case challenging the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, as stated in the Defense of Marriage Act. It gives the U.S. Supreme Court immediate jurisdiction over any case that might arise concerning the obligation of a state to recognize a "marriage" performed in another state that does not conform to that definition. This act ensures that no irresponsible federal judge could decree that the entire nation must recognize same-sex marriage and it would prevent the transmission of same-sex marriages from one state to another. Contact your state Senators and ask them to sponsor and support The Marriage Protection Act. Call the White House free at 877-762-8762 and ask for your state Senators and they will transfer you to their direct line.

TAKE ACTION - S. 2010, The Immigration Reform Act of 2004

Our TAKE ACTION item for today is provided by FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform… on S. 2010, The Immigration Reform Act of 2004. This legislation is a guestworker amnesty program that would reward illegal aliens with legal permanent residency status. S. 2010 would lower wages and working conditions and displace American workers by allowing employers to import cheaper foreign guestworkers. Finally, this legislation would dramatically increase legal immigration far beyond current already high levels. It should be noted that despite the provisions of this legislation that purport to stem illegal immigration, nothing in the bill will prevent employers from continuing to employ illegal aliens just as they do today. Homeland security is ill served by this legislation and FAIR encourages citizens to urge their representatives to refrain from sponsoring this bill. I encourage you to make your voice known on this issue by going to FAIR’s website at www.fairus.org and type in action alerts in their search which will take you to a list of action items including on S.2010.Just follow the instructions. This information is posted on our website under our Take Action section also with a link to FAIR’s site

TAKE ACTION - Stop the Automatic Tax Increase!

Our TAKE ACTION ITEM for today is provided by the Americans for Tax Reform.

President Bush and Congress have cut taxes three times in three different years. As a result, 111 million individuals and families will receive an average tax cut of $1,586 for 2003. This has worked to boost economic growth. The economy is accelerating at its fastest level in 20 years and more than 1.1 million jobs have been created since the last tax cut was put into place. However, even now, the big-government, anti-taxpayer members of Congress want to make sure that these tax cuts cannot be continued into future years. As a result, an Automatic Tax Increase (ATI) is on the horizon for every working American. Congress can stop the Automatic Tax Increase before it kicks in. Tell your Senators and Congressman to stop the Automatic Tax Increase! Make the tax cuts permanent!

1. Call your representatives and tell them to put pressure on the Senate. House switchboard: (202) 224-3121
2. Call both of your senators and tell them to vote ‘no’ on the Automatic Tax Increase. The Senate switchboard: (202) 224-3121
