Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags (tiny computer chips) are
included in California ID’s - drivers’ licenses, student ID’s, medical
cards, etc. without safeguards for privacy. Anyone with an RFID scanner can read the stored data on the chips, exposing you to the risk of identity theft, tracking and stalking. (SB 768) will protect Californians by requiring proper protections for the use of RFID technology in government-issued ID’s.
