Nancy Pelosi Favors of Reviving the "Fairness Doctrine" and is committed to never allow the Broadcaster's Freedom Act to see the light of day. The "Fairness Doctrine" would be a devastating gag on conservative broadcasters, but the Broadcaster Freedom Act would ensure the FCC would never have the power to reinstate it. Pelosi has not allowed this measure to come to the Floor, but Rep. Pence drafted a discharge petition which, with enough signatures, would force Speaker Pelosi to bring the bill to a vote. The petition needs 218 signatures in order to force a vote. Currently, there are 199 and the deadline is drawing closer.
