The drumbeat of “change,” followed by the blasts of power surges coming from the White House, has become the pulsating current that has revived hundreds of thousands of people in over 800 cities, who claim they were once stricken with apathy. They are now awake and carrying signs.
The TEA Parties (Taxed Enough Already), that were held in all 50 states on April 15th were conceived, and carried out by American’s from all income levels and races and political sides. It was perhaps one of the largest, organically grown grass roots movements in history; although, you probably won’t get that impression on the networks, or CNN.
How could they ignore such a hot political story? That’s a good question. There are a lot of answers to that question. But first, you have to take a look at the opposition, and how they handled it.
In the rally in Champaign, Illinois, organized by Kevin Waite of Urbana, about 500 people showed up in the middle of the work week, in the middle of the day and in a liberal college town. When asked why he was doing this Waite said, “We are against both Bush's bailout & Obama's stimulus bill. We agree with neither the size, the scope, nor the underlying principle of these actions, and resent the mortgaging of our children's future for what amounts to pork and a path to nationalizing great parts of our economy." The rally was an excellent display of what a peaceful protest is supposed to be—people speaking their minds, expressing themselves in creative, non-threatening ways. All except one.The old saying, “There’s one in every crowd” has mutated into the opposition’s game plan of “Put one in every crowd.” One woman, paced back and forth in the crowd, every four paces or so she would look up, cup her hand to her mouth and yell out something disruptive while someone was speaking.
Aside from the commonly held belief that it is rude to interrupt a person talking, it has become standard fare for the left to be disruptive and rude while someone is speaking. (Isn’t is ironic that the very people, who considered it their patriotic duty to protest, are stumbling all over themselves now that the shoe is on the other foot?)
I stood by and watched this woman work her magic. She was very skilled in the art of shallow thinking. As she strode up and down the crowd spouting her canned phrases, most of the crowd simply ignored her. Then, someone nibbled.
An older man, with white hair combed back and tucked under a black ball cap, took the bait. He walked over to her and asked her why she was here bothering everyone, and wanted her to leave. She continued to antagonize; as his voice got louder, her voice got softer. Soon, he was in a rage, F-bombs were dropping everywhere. She and her quiet accomplice crossed their arms, smiled, and enjoyed the display.
It was obvious she had accomplished that which she had set out to do. She managed to get one person away from the crowd, angry and cause a scene. Of course the television cameras turned to view the ruckus. Shortly afterward, she was interviewed by a couple of the local media that was there, and then her job was done, so she left.
In Chicago, the main antagonist was disguised as a CNN journalist. Susan Rosegen, with camera crew in tow came up to one protester, a man with a two year old child. She asked him a question, and he began to answer it. In mid-sentence she interrupts him, and argues in defense of the stimulus bill, and informs the man (with a “you just don’t get it tone) that he is entitled to a 400 dollar tax break. Never let the poor guy finish his sentence, walked away and told the camera it was obviously not for family viewing.
With Susan Rosegen as the new poster child for media bias, CNN pulled the video from YouTube.
This president promised change, and he has delivered. The change most of the TEA Party attendees wanted was not a change in the foundations of our government. They woke up and realized what Alexander Hamilton meant when he said, “Power over a man’s substance is power over his will.”
