Consider this: if the light that is in you be darkness and that darkness is masked by an angel of light, making the "truth" light difficult to discern, who will not be fooled by the false? Jesus cautioned us that false christs and false prophets would arise in the last days and “show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Mat 24:24).

We would never have guessed even three or four generations ago, the hard times that "truth" would fall on in these last days. Ecumenism, humanism, secularism, and post-modern theology have created a post Christian society, which has left our world at the door of desperation and lawlessness. After our grand effort to rewrite Genesis, replacing the story of man and our origin with theory and conjecture so poorly constructed, that one would have to be either deluded or willfully ignorant to believe it, we have taken on a feat no less daunting. With the same shameless presumption as our predecessors, we have now grown bold in our discussions to challenge the definition and credibility of truth itself.

Truth can no more be defined by those who would define it than the minnow can define the ocean through his experience in the pond. Truth is not up for discussion or subject to legislation, nor can it be determined by a majority vote. We have not searched for Truth in the treasury of wisdom given in God’s Word, but in the wasteland of human experience. Why do we insist upon establishing our freedoms on the foundation of our own reason and “best guess” while we cast  out the revelation of God as a hindrance to our freedoms; because of the lie, because of rebellion, because of ignorance. “No one is going to tell me what to do, or stop me or tell me how I am going to live my life! Not God, not Truth, not even common sense!”

Rebellion blinds the eyes and stops the ears, (Ezk.12:2) which makes it difficult for us to even see the error or our ways. To begin the search for truth with the question of, “what is truth” is misleading and leads us into hunting for truth in a barrel filled with pragmatism and personal experience. And if the search for an answer is only as productive as the question is relevant, then to seek out anything, it behooves us to first ask the right question.

“What is truth?” (Jhn 18:38), is the famous question asked by Pilate as he stood in front of the One Who said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth and the life”, (Jhn 14:6). Truth is a person; not a thing or an “ism” or a set of dogmas, dictates or the declaration made by a democracy. I am the truth is the claim of the ONE Who lived and died and rose from the dead. Only He is the express image of the Father, God the incarnate-creator of all things, the only pre-existent One. He is and was and will ever be, the embodiment of Truth.

Why is it so important to stand our ground on the subject of Truth and its identity?
